历史告诉世人：徐汇中学开启了我国近代中西教育交汇的先河。受徐光启引进《几何原本》传播先进科学思想的启发，徐汇首开数理化教学，设置音体美课程；承文定公自撰《农政全书》追求民族自强精神的影响，学校崇尚中西文并重，倡导德智体俱进。百多年来，“科学”、“强国”一直是徐汇办学的传统主流，徐汇中学因造就了以马相伯为代表的一大批社会精英、民族脊梁而蜚声海内外。
展望未来，我们这一代徐汇人，任重而道远。“实现中华民族的伟大复兴”，这是时代的深情呼唤；谱写徐汇发展的崭新篇章，正历史地担在我们肩上。我们已经做出了骄人的成绩，但我们的努力，远未有穷期。

One hundred and fifty years have passed since the foundation of Xu Hui High School. During this long period.generations of students have left their footmarks in their pursuit of knowledge. The long history has also been the withness to the vicissitudes of this well-known school of Shanghai.
It has been proved that Xu Hui High School set a precedent for the coordination of Chinese and Western educationin the modem history of our country. Inspired by the fact that Xu Guang Qi introduced "Geometry" to disseminate the new scientific thought and also influenced by his thought of constantly striving to become nationally stronger in his "Book on the Importance of Agriculture", our school established for the first time the courses of mathematics.physics and chemistry as well as the courses of music, art and physical education. We emphasized the importance of both English and Chinese, and advocated physical education as well as moral and intellectual education. Formore than one hundred years, "Science" and "Power" has always been the main current of our tradition for running the school. Xu Hui High School enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad because many people of integrity and the elite of society such as Ma Xiang Bo came from it.
Looking ahead, our generation of Xu Hui people shoulders heavy responsibilities. "To realize the great renaissance of the Chinese nation" is the passionate call of our time. The task of composing a new chapter for the development of Xu Hui falls historically on our shoulders. We have already achieved great success, but we must spare no efforts to fight on!
Facing all our students, carrying out the education of striving, developing various characters, fostering a spirit of bringing forth new ideas, and bringing up a new generation of the backbone of our nation have become the unrelenting pursuit of the people of Xu Hui.
"Taleut comes from Xu Hui. Xu Hui fosters qualified personnel." A great number of students coming from all directions in an endless stream gather on Xu Hui campus. They study diligently, take hard training, temper their will and enhance their abilities for the renaissance of the Chinese nation. They will walk out of Xu Hui with pride and enthusiasm, and stride forward to the country and the world.
